Cristiano Ronaldo limped off down the tunnel at full-time after Manchester United’s 1-0 loss to Everton at Goodison Park.

Ronaldo is in the habit of going off rapidly after poor United results, without acknowledging the supporters or sticking around.

After the meek surrender this lunchtime, he was hobbling at the end of the game and there are photos of the minor injury he suffered.

Ronaldo got a sight of goal in stoppage time with United chasing the game but saw his shot saved by Jordan Pickford.

The ball hit the arm of former United defender Michael Keane and on another day, it could have flicked into the net or even earned a penalty.

But sometimes you make you own luck, and United’s performance was not worthy of any good fortune at all on another underwhelming afternoon.

Ronaldo was reintroduced to the United side after missing the 1-1 draw against Leicester through injury.

The period before Anthony Gordon’s goal was one dominated by United, when they played well enough to get themselves in front but did not show enough cutting edge.

But Ronaldo and co were not able to find a breakthrough and even more bereft of ideas when chasing a game in front of a raucous home crowd cheering their side to a vital victory in the relegation battle.
