Hannibal Mejbri is certainly making his name known in La Liga, for all the wrong reasons

Hannibal Mejbri is one of the many Manchester United loanees that has been sent out this season.

The Tunisian departed for La Liga where he linked up with Sevilla, in the hopes of obtaining some much-needed minutes away from Old Trafford.

There was some confusion regarding the academy star’s contract with his move – which has now been explained. He should be returning to Carrington in the summer.

The wonderkid is certainly getting his name out there in Spain – but not exactly for the right reasons.

Hannibal Mejbri making his name known for Sevilla…

Hannibal made his debut against Girona, in a 5-1 loss last month. He made an immediate impact, of the wrong sort. He was booked after just one minute on the pitch.

This is entirely on brand for Hannibal, who has become known for his spicy temperament as much as his quality on the ball.

Now, on just his second appearance on Monday night, he comes on against Rayo Vallecano and is booked after just four minutes.

That’s now just 36 minutes played for Sevilla and two yellow cards in the process. Yikes.

Hannibal needs to be careful

The eight-minute cameo against Rayo Vallecano which saw him booked again will not do the Tunisian any favours. He’s already in hot water with his coach after his start at the La Liga outfit – which led him to being excluded from the squad.

“After being with him, talking to him and having seen his first minutes in Girona, we are going to give him the necessary space to understand where he is, that he is at Sevilla and what it means,” explains Quique Sanchez to Diario de Sevilla.

“He has to know where he is. We have spoken with him and we believe that he has to have some time to learn. We wanted to give him a space, and time for him to see things from the outside. And then he will return to the squad.”

His return has done him no favours, showing his hot-headed nature. Some would say desire, others would say carelessness. It’s hard to tell in the case of Hannibal.

A really poor start to his time away from Old Trafford. We guess the only way is up from here. That – or a red card in his next game.
