Manchester United were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Grimsby Town and one of their star performers is a boyhood Red Devils fan.
There will be a huge spotlight on Ruben Amorim and his future at Manchester United after a penalty shootout defeat to Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup second round.
The Red Devils found themselves two goals down within 30 minutes before goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire clawed the scoreline back to 2-2 in the second half.
Andre Onana was terrible after coming back into the lineup, and he wasn’t able to redeem himself in a penalty shootout which ended 12-11 to the hosts.

Grimsby Town goalkeeper was a boyhood Man United fan
One of Grimsby’s goalscorers, Tyrell Warren spent time at United, and he knocked out his former side at Blundell Park.
At the other end of the pitch, Grimsby goalkeeper Christy Pym put on a sensational performance, producing seven saves.
After the full-time whistle, Pym spoke to Sky Sports and admitted he was actually “fuming” at the result because he is a Manchester United fan.
“It’s not sunk in yet. I’m a Man United fan so I’m half fuming a little bit,” Pym said.
“Nights like this are what we play football for, it’s beautiful.”
Man United must solve goalkeeper crisis immediately
Amorim publicly defended Altay Bayindir after his mistake against Arsenal in the opening match, but after another unconvincing performance against Fulham, Onana returned to the starting XI.
However, Onana was easily the worst player on the pitch and was completely outclassed by Pym’s performance between the sticks.
United’s goalkeeper made two errors leading to goals, and also allowed several penalties in the shootout slip through his hands. A truly unforgivable performance.
Bayindir and Onana have both proven that they do not have the quality or mentality to represent United, so Amorim’s options are clear – a new goalkeeper must be signed as soon as possible.
United are in advanced talks with Senne Lammens over a £17 million move, and it could end up being the most important signing of the summer.
