Manchester United’s Premier League rivals Chelsea have fired manager Thomas Tuchel.
Chelsea announced Tuchel’s sacking the morning after a Champions League defeat to Dinamo Zagreb.
Former United defender Gary Neville took amusement in the quick firing, mocking owner Tood Boehly by comparing him to Ed Woodward.
Woodward oversaw a period of turbulence at Manchester United after Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure, before finally standing down earlier this year.
It appears Chelsea are going through their own period of transition following Roman Abramovich selling the club, embarking on a scatter gun transfer approach this summer.

Tuchel sacked
Manchester United are not due to take on Chelsea until the weekend of October 22, at Stamford Bridge.
One early favourite for the job could be Mauricio Pochettino, reports The Telegraph, who was under consideration for the role at Manchester United, with Erik ten Hag chosen ahead of him. If he was hired, this would add a new slant to the upcoming match between the two teams.
Tuchel was named as a possible candidate for the Manchester United job back in March. The Athletic claimed there was some interest from the Red Devils, if he were to become available.
United managed to lure Erik ten Hag, the club’s first choice, although Tuchel was seen as a safe candidate with Premier League experience and Champions League success.
Tuchel is the second Premier League manager to be fired this season, following Bournemouth sacking Scott Parker.
Chelsea are one place behind Manchester United in the Premier League table, two points behind Erik ten Hag’s side.
