Gary Neville gives verdict on Jadon Sancho performance v Leicester

Jadon Sancho came off the bench at half-time against Leicester and played a role in one of the best 45 minutes of Manchester United’s season.

United scored two second half goals to clinch a 3-0 win, and it could easily have been more. Sancho himself took his one chance beautifully.

He is now up to five goals for the season, with two since his return to the first team three weeks ago.

Sancho could easily have had an assist too. Wasteful finishing from Wout Weghorst denied him that.

Neville praises Sancho

Gary Neville named Marcus Rashford as his man of the match, but reserved special praise for Jadon Sancho.

He discussed Sancho playing in the central role and said he felt it suited the former Dortmund star.

Neville told Sky Sports: “He’s best when he’s in tight areas, in tight spaces on the edge of the box. This number 10 position could really suit him.

“Sancho has been outstanding in this second half, he’s been absolutely brilliant.”

Sancho looks to be enjoying his football and was effective whenever he had the ball. He complete 26 of 28 passes and created three goalscoring opportunities.

This was one of Sancho’s best 45 minutes in a Manchester United shirt since he signed for the club. If he can produce this level of performance on a consistent basis, then we have a very special player.

Two big games are upcoming against Barcelona, and then the Carabao Cup final. It would be great to see Sancho playing like this in both of those crucial matches.
