Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher shared a heated war of words after the Manchester United legend made a bold admission about his former teammate.
The 49-year-old former Manchester United captain spent his entire playing career at Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson after rising through the youth academy.
One of the famed Class of ’92 members, Gary Neville made a whopping 598 first-team appearances for the Red Devils during his remarkable playing career.
Neville lifted eight Premier League titles, two Champions League trophies, three FA Cups and three League Cups under former manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
The former United and England right-back called it time on his playing career in 2011 and has become one of the leading figures in football punditry.
But Neville did spend time in coaching after his playing career and was assistant manager for England before enduring a distasteful managerial spell at Valencia.

Neville stuns Carragher over Man Utd legend stance
Speaking on a Stick to Football special, Gary Neville revealed that former Manchester United teammate Jaap Stam would be the “best defender as an individual.”
However, the former Manchester United defender claimed that Jaap Stam would not make his best XI for the Red Devils, despite his admiration for the Dutchman.
Neville suggested that there is no way to “deny” the “unbelievable” partnership between Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand and Steve Bruce and Gary Pallister.
“I haven’t got Jaap in my best Man United team but if you said to me, ‘Who is the best defender as an individual?’ I’d say Jaap Stam,” he said on The Overlap.
“Vidic and Ferdinand and Bruce and Pallister were unbelievable pairs and you can’t deny it.
“I’m saying Jaap Stam is the best sort of one-on-one defender that United had.”
Carragher’s reaction to Neville’s Stam claim
Jamie Carragher wasted no time pushing back on Neville and demanded that the United legend name the best centre-back that he played with at the club.
“Who’s the best centre-back you played with at Manchester United? Just answer that,” Carragher said.
Responding to Carragher, Neville said: “I think Jaap Stam, but he’s not in my best 11.”
Jaap Stam is widely regarded as one of the best defenders in Premier League history and the United legend had a sensational impact under Sir Alex Ferguson.
The 52-year-old Dutchman was a key part of the United treble-winning team and Stam lifted three Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy and an FA Cup.
Carragher pulled no punches towards Neville and the Liverpool legend took a shot at the Sky Sports pundit over his ill-fated managerial run at Valencia.
“No wonder management didn’t work for you,” he said.
Neville continued: “The strength of Vidic and Ferdinand together or Bruce and Pallister is stronger than the individual ability of Jaap.”
Reacting to Neville, Carragher replied: “So, two players are stronger than one? Yeah, well done.”
