Gary Neville has admitted that Amad Diallo is now at the real risk of losing his place in the Manchester United starting XI under Michael Carrick to Benjamin Sesko.
Amad Diallo has been Michael Carrick’s preferred pick to play out on the right side of the Manchester United attacking set-up in the post-Ruben Amorim era of the club.
Benjamin Sesko’s turnaround has been pretty stunning! Should he start the next game?
Carrick’s decision to deploy the 23-year-old Ivorian forward as the right winger has seen summer signing Bryan Mbeumo shift to the lone striker role in his tactics.
Bryan Mbeumo’s position change has come at the expense of Man Utd striker Benjamin Sesko, who has been dropped to the bench under Carrick in recent weeks.

Gary Neville’s analysis of Amad Diallo and Benjamin Sesko under former Man Utd teammate Michael Carrick
Despite losing his place in the Red Devils starting XI, Benjamin Sesko has become a key substitute option for Manchester United legend Michael Carrick at Old Trafford.
Sesko showed his importance once again on Monday evening after the 22-year-old Slovenian forward climbed off the bench and scored United’s winner against Everton.
The Slovenia international was brought on early in the second half at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with Amad Diallo forced to make way in the 1-0 win on the day.
Sesko has not started once since Michael Carrick’s return to Old Trafford, but he has found the back of the net three times in his last five Premier League matches.
Who was your Man Utd MAN OF THE MATCH vs Everton?
Let us know why!
Speaking after Man Utd’s result over Everton, Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville insisted that Sesko could be back in the starting XI now at the expense of winger Amad.
“Sesko, now, I think on Sunday against Crystal Palace, I think he starts,” he said on Sky Sports’ The Gary Neville Podcast.
“And I haven’t always been convinced about him this season, but what you have to do, I think, is move with what you see.
“And I think there is a moment now where United have just struggled in the last couple of games against West Ham and Everton.
“He looks like he’s growing in his game and in his body, and he looks like he’s got more power in his performance; his confidence is high. And I think now on Sunday, I think Michael Carrick starts him.”
Gary Neville on why Benjamin Sesko must now start for Man Utd interim boss Michael Carrick ahead of Amad Diallo
Amad has started in all six of Carrick’s Premier League matches as interim head coach, but the Ivory Coast international has not scored or picked up an assist.
Neville argued that it would be a major blow to the in-form Sesko’s confidence if Carrick did not start him for the Red Devils’ next Premier League match.
What is your message to Michael Carrick after the win vs Everton?
“I think it would kill the lad if he didn’t start on Sunday,” he added.
“So, I think what you’ll see on Sunday is probably Cunha to the left, Mbeumo to the right, I think Sesko up top, and I think you’ll see Bruno obviously in behind.
“And I think that Amad Diallo does slip out for a game, which he’s been really good, Amad, but I think Sesko starts Sunday, because I don’t think you can’t not start him.”
United will now return to Premier League action on Sunday and the Red Devils will host Crystal Palace at Old Trafford for a 2pm kick-off time in the UK.
