Gary Neville and Ian Wright were on the same wavelength over their respective assessments of Bryan Mbeumo after the Manchester United star’s stunning impact.
The Red Devils pursued Bryan Mbeumo last summer and Manchester United finally landed the former Brentford star with their third bid in July 2025.

United agreed to pay an initial fee worth £65m to bring the 26-year-old French-born winger to Old Trafford, with a further £6m agreed in add-ons in the transfer.
Mbeumo was a marquee signing for former Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim and the Cameroon international has been a standout performer in the 2025-26 campaign.
The ex-Bees ace has netted 10 times and registered two assists in 22 matches across all competitions for Man Utd in his debut season at the club.

Bryan Mbeumo was deployed as the right-sided No 10 in Ruben Amorim’s divisive tactical system at Manchester United for the majority of the campaign so far.
However, the Cameroon winger has since had a key position change under Michael Carrick after Portuguese coach Amorim was sacked as Man Utd manager in January.
Michael Carrick, who returned to Old Trafford last month as interim head coach, has been deploying Mbeumo as the lone forward ahead of striker Benjamin Sesko.

Speaking on Stick to Football, Gary Neville suggested that the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea would have deeply benefited from signing Mbeumo ahead of United.
“If you look at it now, Mbeumo would probably have been better for Chelsea and Arsenal than the players they got,” he said on The Overlap’s podcast.
The 50-year-old United legend added: “He’s a good signing for Manchester United, a really solid signing. I like him a lot.”

Mbeumo has continued to impress under Michael Carrick and has netted three times and registered one assist in his last five Premier League matches at the Red Devils.
Ian Wright insisted that former side Arsenal would have seen a major boost to their Premier League title challenge had Mbeumo been added to the Gunners’ roster.

“He always looks dangerous… absolutely [Mbeumo would have strengthened Arsenal],” he said.
Wright added: “It’s the same with [Antoine] Semenyo, you watch Semenyo and think, ‘I could see him at Arsenal.’
“I could see Mbeumo at Arsenal as well. Gutted.”
United will travel to Goodison Park on 23rd February and the Red Devils will face Everton in their next Premier League clash under interim head coach Carrick.
