Leny Yoro made his long-awaited debut for Manchester United in the Premier League against Arsenal.

After four months on the sidelines following a pre-season injury, Leny Yoro returned to face the team he suffered the injury against.

Yoro came off the bench in the 59th minute against the Gunners in the 2-0 loss and fared well, with head coach Ruben Amorim singling him out for praise.

The young centre-back is viewed as a ‘generational talent’, with former United great Rio Ferdinand tipping him to become the best in the world.

Reaction to Leny Yoro performance

Leny Yoro’s debut performance received a positive verdict in the UK, and he also hit headlines in his native France too.

French outlet Le Petit Lillois covered Yoro’s debut, commenting: “While it is difficult to truly judge such debuts, a brilliant tackle on Leandro Trossard in the box will forever remain the image of his great Premier League debut.”

Le11 had a similar view, reporting: “While it is difficult to form a definitive opinion on Leny Yoro based on this simple 30-minute sample, the international hopeful made a rather good impression.”

The outlet noted Yoro’s 86 per cent pass completion rate, one successful tackle and two clearances, adding: “the central defender will now try to make up for lost time” to help United move up the table from a “sad” 13th place.

United spent £52 million to sign Yoro from French side Lille in the summer, and have high hopes he will become a top star.

Yoro will be eased back in

Ruben Amorim spoke after Manchester United’s loss to explain how several players are operating under strict minute restrictions.

One of these is Mason Mount, despite the midfielder making his return from his latest injury a week ago against Bodo/Glimt.

This really highlights how seriously United are taking the players’ returns, which is sensible, considering the feeling that they were mishandled in 2023/24.

Leny Yoro can look forward to quite a short leash over the next fortnight for certain. While it is great he is back, we could see a few more substitute appearances like this one, before he is playing full 90 minutes.
