Manchester United midfielder Fred says he is not entirely happy with his lack of minutes at Manchester United.
The Brazil midfielder spoke to FourFourTwo about his season at Manchester United and had a mixed verdict.
Fred explained: “In terms of my own performance, I believe I’ve played well, although I wish I’d had more minutes on the pitch.
“Whenever I was on the field, I think I delivered what was expected from me to help the team succeed.”
Fred linked with move away
Fred has been linked with a move away from Manchester United in recent days. The MEN reported Fulham were interested, after he was spotted talking with their manager Marco Silva after the weekend’s game.
He has only one year left on his contract at Manchester United and there has been little to no speculation recently over an extension.
The Mirror claimed last December that Paris Saint-Germain may be interested in Fred this summer.
For now, Fred is focused on contributing to Manchester United winning the FA Cup final, which may enable him to go out on a high.
He performed well at the weekend in the win over Fulham, providing a match-winning assist. Former star Ben Foster has called for him to start at Wembley.
Fred, 30, could fall victim to United’s desire to strengthen in midfield and need to raise funds for new players.
He has made 212 appearances for the club since his £47 million move from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018.
Earlier this season he finally won his first trophy, meaning he can bow out on a high no matter what happens at Wembley.
He explained: “We’re conscious that we could have gone further in the Europa League but, all things considered, I’ve been happy with our season.
“I was over the moon with my first trophy at the club, which shows that our team is on the right path after years of reconstruction.”
