Manchester United now have a clash with Leeds United to look forward to next season after they clinched promotion from the Championship.
Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United lost 1-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday afternoon as this dismal Premier League campaign continues.
The Europa League is the last hope this season, with United’s dramatic 5-4 win over Lyon last week sending Amorim’s side into the semi-finals.
Some fans may already be looking towards next season, though, with United needing to step it up next term.
United will now meet Leeds United and Burnley in the Premier League after they secured promotion on Monday.
Burnley’s promotion sees Hannibal Mejbri return to the top flight, and Leeds have a couple of former United players in their ranks as well.
Largie Ramazani clinches Premier League promotion with Leeds United
United fans will immediately think of Daniel James, who has enjoyed a brilliant season with Leeds.
The Welshman has bagged 12 goals and nine assists, playing a starring role in Leeds returning to the Premier League.
Then there is Largie Ramazani, who joined United from Charlton Athletic back in 2017.
Ramazani showed promise at United and looked to be one for the future at Old Trafford.
Ramazani decided to leave United in 2020, though, and made a bold move to Spain with Almeria.
After suffering relegation last season, Ramazani joined Leeds in a £10million move as he returned for another crack at English football.
The 24-year-old has only started seven Championship games this season, but has chipped in with four goals and two assists whilst making 20 substitute appearances.
Ramazani will now be poised for a first return to Old Trafford since departing nearly five years ago.
Whether the Belgian will take on a bigger role in the Premier League remains to be seen, with Daniel Farke preferring other options this season.
United’s clashes with Leeds are always great to watch and Ramazani would surely love to be a part of it next season.
Largie Ramazani explained Manchester United exit
Ramazani backed himself by leaving United and that paid off with success in Spain and now Premier League football.
Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds earlier this season, Ramazani explained his decision to leave United.
Ramazani felt ready for first-team football and knew that he wasn’t going to receive it at Old Trafford.
The winger felt confident that he would shine elsewhere, so decided to drop into Spain’s second tier in order to leave United.
“I just wanted the experience and first-team football,” said Ramazani.
“I wasn’t getting that at United so I thought I am just going to take that risk, go to a second division team in Spain and just make my way out.
“I am confident in my qualities and knew I would make it out.
“I just decided to take the risk and showed myself out there and we managed to get promotion in the second season,” he added.
Ramazani is now primed to face United next season, possibly joining James on the flanks when Leeds visit Old Trafford.
