Ruben Amorim finds himself fighting for his future at Manchester United following a mixed start to the season.
After losing the Europa League final last season and finishing 15th in the Premier League, Ruben Amorim was afforded a clean slate for 2025/26.
With no European football as a distraction, Amorim is expected to finish top six this season. Seven games in, United sit 10th in the standings with three defeats.

Sam Allardyce praises fan treatment of Ruben Amorim
Last season, United fans rallied behind Amorim despite his nightmarish first few months in charge of the club.
The Portuguese’s blunt honesty and transparency helped to get supporters onside, and the United fanbase continues to show fierce support on matchdays.
Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast, former Premier League manager Sam Allardyce commented on how United fans have stuck by Amorim.
“Everybody knows my relationship with Sir Alex, and often I’ve spoken about this, and he said, Sam, you cannot believe the pressure you get by losing two games,” Allardyce said.
“Now, that’s drifted away a touch now, because it’s gone on so long that they can lose two games on the trot quite often, like you mean.
“So, it’s sort of, it’s nullified the pressure that happens if you lose two games at Manchester United. But for Alex, it was a devastation. And I think that for United now, and I have to be very, very honest about it, the fans have been great with him.”
“You know, I think that he’s very fortunate that the fans have stayed. I mean, when I went, when they were, they beat Chelsea, and the stadium’s packed, they got really right behind the team. Obviously, they won a game, they deserve to win.”
“So, there is some noise when they do lose, but not as much as I thought they might be.”

It is quickly closing in on being Amorim’s one-year milestone as United manager and he is still yet to win back-to-back Premier League matches in charge.
Amorim has struggled for league results, but a comfortable 2-0 win over Sunderland before the break relieved some of the pressure around his job status.
Next up for United is a trip to Anfield to face arch-rivals Liverpool, who have lost three games on the bounce.

Victory over Liverpool would not only end Amorim’s tireless wait for back-to-back league wins, but it would send a message to the fanbase that his United side can beat anyone on their day.
Defeat at Anfield would cast more doubt over his future and pile pressure onto the following game against Brighton.
