A former Manchester United player has insisted that he ‘feels’ for one Red Devils star after Ruben Amorim’s men suffered a 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils impressed early in the first half of the Premier League clash, but Ruben Amorim’s side were unable to break the deadlock before half-time.
Manchester United were exposed from a set-piece again this season after Crystal Palace opened the scoring at Old Trafford thanks to Jean-Philippe Mateta.
Amorim’s men were unable to rally back into the contest and Jean-Philippe Mateta completed his brace in the 89th minute and sealed all three points for Palace.
United had won their last two matches across all competitions before their latest setback against Eagles, with the Red Devils dropping important points.
Amorim’s side languish in 13th place and United are 12 points clear of the relegation zone, with the Red Devils winning only eight league matches this season.

Ruben Amorim’s woes at Old Trafford continued after losing Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez to injury during the Crystal Palace match.
Lisandro Martinez was competing for the ball with Ismaila Sarr late in the second half and the United centre-back appeared to twist his knee.
The 27-year-old Argentine defender received medical treatment on the Old Trafford pitch and Martinez visibly appeared to be in pain after the injury to his knee.
Martinez was stretchered off the pitch and United manager Amorim subbed on Matthijs de Ligt in his place in the 82nd minute.
Former United player Gordon Hill took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, and wished Martinez all the “best” after his injury on Sunday.
“I feel for him as I had the same injury playing for Derby County,” he recalled.
Gordon Hill added: “A hard one to take. took a long time to come back. I wish him the best.”
Amorim’s immediate verdict on Martinez’s injury
United will now return to action on Friday for their fourth-round FA Cup clash against Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Leicester City side at Old Trafford.
Speaking after Palace’s 2-0 win on the weekend, Amorim admitted that he expects Lisandro Martinez to have picked up a “serious” injury in the match.
“Yes, hard day for the team, for the fans, we lose again,” he said at his press conference.
“We improve in some areas of the game, we controlled better the game, we had more possession, we had situations, but, in the end, we suffered two goals that we can avoid.
“And Licha is really important for us, not just as a football player but the character that he has, especially in the hard moments.
“So now it’s time for us to help Licha like he is doing for so long.”
Amorim added: “I think it’s a bad situation. Let’s wait to assess things with the doctor, but I think it’s a serious situation.”
