A former Manchester United player under Sir Alex Ferguson will take his first major steps into a new sport after retiring from football only a month ago.
Legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson bowed out of Old Trafford in 2013 after he led Manchester United to their last Premier League title.
The 82-year-old Scotsman was known for bringing the best in class to United, including the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Eric Cantona.
Despite the world-class talent that he managed at Old Trafford, Ferguson also saw the low points at United for transfers that he missed out on or flop signings.
Ferguson, who led United to an iconic treble win in 1999, also ensured that players in the United youth academy had their chance to shine in the first team.
The iconic Scot opened the door for players from the ‘Class of ‘92’ and the likes of Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs flourished under his watch at Old Trafford.

Former Man Utd player makes career change
Danny Simpson was part of Manchester United’s youth academy and was promoted to the first team under Sir Alex Ferguson.
The 37-year-old former United right-back managed eight appearances for the Red Devils and had multiple loan spells during his time with the Premier League club.
Simpson would leave Old Trafford permanently in 2010 and signed for Newcastle, with the ex-United player later playing for Queens Park Rangers.
The former Red Devils defender went on to lift the Premier League title in 2016 as part of the famous Leicester City team under Claudio Ranieri.
Michael Benson on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has now revealed that Simpson has made a career change to boxing.
Simpson will now feature at the next Misfits Boxing event, with the former Leicester City star set to face YouTuber Danny Aarons.
The YouTuber-led boxing event will be held in Dublin, Ireland, on 31st August and previously had YouTube star KSI set to fight in a two vs one boxing match.
However, YouTuber-turned-rapper KSI announced last month that he would be forced to withdraw from the event at the 3Arena due to an injury.
Simpson’s career in football ended
Danny Simpson went on to play for the likes of Huddersfield Town, Bristol City and Macclesfield after he left Leicester City in 2019.
The former United player, who signed for Macclesfield in 2023, called it time on his career last month.
“It’s the day every footballer knows will come around eventually and the one nobody wants to happen but it’s time to announce my retirement from the game we all love so much,” Simpson wrote on Instagram.
“Whilst it’s a day I never wanted to come and it’s been a while since I played, I know it’s time to hang up my boots and concentrate on other projects.
“I have so much to be grateful for, football has given me so much and I need to say thank you to so many people. My friends, my teammates and my family who all had to put up with me. LOL. Thank you.”
