Manchester United have welcomed another player back to pre-season training.

It has been 10 days since Manchester United began pre-season training ahead of the 2024/25 season.

During this time the team have played a match, a 1-0 loss at Rosenborg, and take on Rangers this coming weekend.

United have until now been without every player who featured at international tournaments at Euro 2024 and the Copa America.

Scott McTominay returns

The first player who featured at one of the international tournaments has made his return to Carrington.

This was Scott McTominay, perhaps unsurprisingly after Scotland’s woeful showing at Euro 2024.

Scotland played in the tournament’s opening game on June 14, and they were eliminated at the group stages with just one point gained from a possible nine.

McTominay has now returned to Carrington to undergo fitness tests on his first day back, before linking up with his Manchester United teammates.

It is unclear whether McTominay will be available for selection against Rangers this weekend when Manchester United play in his native Scotland.

Who could follow McTominay?

Scott McTominay was the only Manchester United player eliminated from Euro 2024 at the group stages.

The next players to return home were United’s Denmark duo, Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen, who were eliminated in the last 16.

Denmark were knocked out on June 29, a full six days after Scotland’s final group stage match on June 23.

So it is unlikely to be until next week we see either of them follow McTominay back to Carrington, by which stage the players will be preparing for the pre-season tour.
