Bruno Fernandes has sent a message to Diogo Dalot after the defender netted the first league goal of his loan spell at Milan yesterday.
Dalot scored the second goal of Milan’s 2-0 away win over Hellas Verona which moved them just three points behind table-toppers Inter.
The defender cut inside from his left back role to produce a smart body swerve on the edge of the box before he striking into the top left corner of the net to give the goalkeeper no chance.
Of course, he wasn’t the only United left-back to find the net yesterday, with Luke Shaw sealing a 2-0 win in yesterday’s derby.
Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring and after the game, commented on Dalot’s Instagram post celebrating the goal.
The message read ‘Ma che gol hai fatto’, which translates from Italian into English as ‘what did you do?’.
That’s likely a reference to Dalot’s poor goalscoring record, expressing happy surprise at his compatriot getting on the scoresheet.
This was his Dalot’s second goal for Milan – after he netted in the Europa League against Sparta Prague in October.
He only found the net once for United, in a 6-0 FA Cup victory over Tranmere in January 2020.
The timing of Dalot’s goal might be significant too.
United face Milan in the first leg of their Europa League last 16 clash on Thursday night and Dalot is free to play against his parent club.
He’s played a part in every single one of Milan’s European clashes this season, so he’ll expect to be involved again this week.
