Facundo Pellistri was awarded a rare start against Borussia Dortmund, in which he looked quite dangerous operating on the left. However, we still think he’ll head out on loan, with him most likely to link up with two ex-reds…
Erik ten Hag‘s men ended up losing 3-2 to Dortmund in Las Vegas. The game was a frustrating one for the boss, who was visibly annoyed with his players ‘poor performance’ at full-time.
There was sloppy defending, bust-ups and a lack of composure from United on the night, which needs to be eradicated before the start of the Premier League season.
That isn’t to say there wasn’t a few bright sparks in and amongst the side. Andre Onana was quality again, Donny van de Beek surprised a few and then there was Facundo Pellistri, who caused problems with a lot of mazey runs from the left.

Facundo Pellistri ‘bright’ against Borussia Dortmund
The Manchester Evening News described Pellistri as ‘bright’ against Borussia Dortmund, which is a little bit of an understatement.
They also gave him a measly six rating, which to us at least wasn’t the case. The winger was willing to run at the defenders and got himself into some brilliant positions.
According to Sofascore, the Uruguayan completed all successful dribbles and drew three fouls during his 60-minute stint against Dortmund.
MORE UNITED STORIES
Pellistri has always been a player that’s looked lively when he features. There is a player there, which is why another loan move is a necessity.
He could link up with Edinson Cavani and Marcos Rojo
In the search for first-team football, Pellistri could link back up with former Red Devils, Edinson Cavani and Marcos Rojo.
He just signed for Boca Juniors after Valencia terminated his contract, joining another former United man in Rojo who has been at the Argentinian side since 2021.
Uruguayan journalist Sebas Giovanelli has suggested that a loan move back to Boca Juniors could be an option. He went on to suggest that Boca have “consulted” Manchester United about a possible loan for Pellistri.
This move could make a lot of sense for all involved. Although, it’s probably in United’s best interest to send him somewhere in Europe. Let’s see what unfolds.
