Fabrizio Romano has insisted that Erik ten Hag is speaking with one Manchester United star on a “daily basis” and wants to “trust” him for the “long term.”
Manchester United dropped valuable Premier League points on Saturday with their 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Erik ten Hag’s men largely dominated Crystal Palace in the Premier League contest, but the Red Devils were unable to break the 0-0 deadlock.
United are currently 11th in the Premier League table under Ten Hag after their first five league matches, with the Red Devils managing only seven points so far.
The Red Devils had returned to winning ways after the September international break with a well-earned 3-0 win over 10-man Southampton at the St Mary’s.
United also found success in the Carabao Cup last week after their 7-0 demolition of League One side Barnsley in the third-round tie at Old Trafford.
Romano on Ten Hag and Man Utd star
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano opened up on Erik ten Hag’s stance towards Manchester United star Mason Mount.
Ten Hag brought Mason Mount to Old Trafford in 2023 after United agreed an initial fee of £55m with Chelsea to sign the England international.
Mount’s first season at Old Trafford was curtailed by injuries and the former Chelsea star failed to make a real impact for United.
The United star secured playing time in the pre-season tour and started in his side’s opening two Premier League matches of the campaign before he suffered an injury.
“In his last press conference, Erik ten Hag wanted to back Mason Mount,” Romano said.
“Erik ten Hag is really supporting Mason Mount. On a daily basis, Erik ten Hag is talking to the player, is trusting the player, he wants to give him some time to come back in the best way possible, not to have any injury problems anymore and to give him the opportunity to play on a regular basis, to be consistent and to be back at his level, at Mason Mount’s level.”
Romano talks Mount at Man Utd
Mason Mount was subbed off at half-time in the 2-1 defeat to Brighton at the Amex in August after he injured a hamstring in the Premier League clash.
The Three Lions international has since returned back to training, but Ten Hag was unable to pick Mount for Saturday’s 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace.
Romano has now claimed that Ten Hag is fully backing Mount to make a name for himself at Old Trafford and the former Chelsea star is seen as an “important player.”
“So especially Erik ten Hag is still pushing to give Mason Mount chances, to trust Mason Mount for the long term and to have Mason Mount as an important player for Manchester United,” he continued.
“They were very happy at Manchester United with the way he was working even in pre-season to prepare for the new season in the best way possible, but then unlucky with injuries again, but Erik ten Hag is still there and the staff are working to get him in the best conditions possible, this is a very, very clear mission.”
