Ex-Man Utd teammate sends ‘hurry up’ message to Paul Pogba as wait goes on for record signing’s comeback

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is attempting to return to action.

Paul Pogba was cleared to play football in March 2025 after being banned for 18 months due to an alleged doping violation.

Pogba had to wait until the summer to find a new club, signing for Monaco, setting himself up to play in Ligue 1 for the first time in his career.

Manchester United’s record signing left Le Havre in France as a teenager, spending two spells with the Red Devils and two with Juventus.

However, Pogba is still waiting to play, having struggled with his fitness since penning a deal with Monaco.

Jesse Lingard offers encouragement to Paul Pogba

Now two international breaks into the season, Paul Pogba is yet to make his debut for Monaco. He has not played a game since 2023.

L’Equipe reported how Pogba recently suffered another setback in training, potentially further delaying his return.

Pogba is still aiming to make his comeback in October, and posted training images from Monaco’s training ground over the weekend.

He received encouragement on social media from former Manchester United teammate Jesse Lingard.

Lingard responded with a message: “Hurry up and play we wanna see you ball out man 💫💫💫💫”.

Pogba’s World Cup hopes looking slim

After signing with Monaco, Paul Pogba claimed that one of the main reasons for picking a Ligue 1 side was his aim of gatecrashing the France World Cup squad.

Pogba’s inability to get on the pitch for Monaco so far has been a major blow, already denying him the chance to impress early and get into the international squads in September or October.

The November squad looks unlikely too at this point.

Pogba still has a chance as a wildcard, but he needs to show he can stay fit between now and the end of the season, and play with the quality that demands a recall.

At this stage he needs to walk before he can run. Just getting back on the pitch for the first time in two years will be a victory for a player who is still Manchester United’s record signing.
