Timothy Fosu-Mensah has been unable to find a new club since his Bayer Leverkusen contract expired in June 2024.
It has been four years since Timothy Fosu-Mensah left Manchester United following two loan spells at Crystal Palace and Fulham.
The Netherlands international, 27, made a total of 30 first-team appearances after graduating from United’s academy and making his debut under Louis van Gaal.
Fosu-Mensah was highly thought of during his time in United’s youth teams, but sadly, injuries would hinder his development at senior level.
Unfortunately for Fosu-Mensah, his three years at Bayer Leverkusen were significantly impacted by injuries, which limited him to just 30 appearances for the Bundesliga side.
The former Ajax academy prospect suffered a cruciate ligament injury (ACL) shortly after joining the club, and it kept him out of action for 10 months – ending his first season prematurely.

Leverkusen chose not to renew Fosu-Mensah’s deal, and he has been without a club since June 30, 2024.
Despite having a trial with Italian outfit Como during that time, Fosu-Mensah’s search for a new club continues.
A new report from The Star claims Sheffield Wednesday are keeping tabs on Fosu-Mensah, but they must wait for approval from the EFL, with any deals needing to be ratified by the league due to the club’s current financial situation.
Sheffield Wednesday are in administration, but talks on Monday ended without the EFL giving a definitive answer.
Fosu-Mensah is believed to be one of the players shortlisted as a potential target should Sheffield Wednesday receive a green light to sign free agents.
It remains to be seen if Fosu-Mensah would be interested in signing for Sheffield Wednesday, who are currently 24th in the Championship table with -4 points.

Fosu-Mensah made his last competitive appearance on Sunday, April 23, 2023, in the Bundesliga against RB Leipzig.
