Erik ten Hag on Sir Alex Ferguson

Erik ten Hag told the club website that he is always open to consulting and learning more and was appreciative of Sir Alex’s time.

He said Sir Alex told him that he wants to support his work as United manager, and explained that the Scotsman was thrilled to see United doing so well.

He said: “It’s massive. I always enjoy it, to speak with people who have a lot of knowledge, a lot of experience.

“He wants to share it, he wants to help, he wants to support.

“You feel Manchester United is his club, he feels so committed. He wants [to see] that we are doing well.

“It was a great night and I look forward to the next night with him.”

Sir Alex Ferguson knows all about what it takes to face Barcelona, masterminding United’s last win over the Spanish side at Old Trafford in 2008. He went on to suffer defeats too in 2009 and 2011 finals.

Ferguson’s passion for the club still shines through, he attends every game he can at the age of 81, and he has been pictured in the stands with a smile on his face – something which has not always been the case in recent seasons.

Let’s hope Erik ten Hag can give Fergie more reasons to smile over the upcoming week.
