Erik ten Hag names the Manchester United summer signing he’s ‘very happy’ with

Much was expected of Manchester United in the opening weeks of the season, especially after they made a number of signings including Mason Mount, Sergio Reguilon and Rasmus Hojlund.

Many would have expected Manchester United to challenge Manchester City and Arsenal for the Premier League title this season.

After all, the Red Devils finished in the top four of the Premier League table last season.

So, naturally, you would expect arguably the biggest club in England to push on and aim for the Premier League title this campaign.

Things have been dire for Erik ten Hag’s side so far this season.

United are as low as 13th in the Premier League table at the moment with just six points from five matches.

Leaders and city rivals City are on 15 points from five games.

It looks as though United will have to revise their ambition and aim for the top four and not the title this season.

Sergio Reguilon impressive for Manchester United

While many will criticise Ten Hag for not getting the best out of the players he has at his disposal, you have to note that some of the new signings have had injury problems.

For example, Mount, signed from Chelsea in the summer transfer window, has made only two appearances in the Premier League for the Red Devils this season.

One summer signing who has impressed Ten Hag is Sergio Reguilon.

United signed the Spain international left-back on loan from Tottenham Hotspur on the final day of the summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old defender moved to the Red Devils on loan until June 2024.

Reguilon has made one appearance in the Premier League and one in the UEFA Champions League.

And he has been very good.

The Tottenham-owned left-back is likely to start against Burnley away from home at Turf Moor in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

And Ten Hag has been singing his praises ahead of the game.

Erik ten Hag praise for Sergio Reguilon

Ten Hag told MUTV about Reguilon: “We’re very happy with him and it is not easy to [be] coming in[to] a team you don’t know.

“And there was less preparation.

“Of course, he’s experienced. [A] very good base he has but then still to know our rules and we didn’t have the time to teach them, to coach them in training or in the preparation time in like a pre-season.

“But he had to go straight in and he did well.”
