Manchester United are set to block an attempt from Blackpool to hire highly rated assistant Eric Ramsay, report The Athletic.
Ramsay was hired under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as a set piece coach, and attracted some flak after United took several months last season to score one.
This is no longer an issue, with Ramsay credited recently with a very smart corner routine which saw Christian Eriksen set up Marcus Rashford for a goal against Nottingham Forest.
His duties as assistant extent beyond set pieces, where his job title is now simply ‘first team coach’, working with Steve McClaren and Mitchell van der Gaag to support Erik ten Hag.

United to block Ramsay approach
Championship side Blackpool are looking for a new manager after sacking Michael Appleton, a former Manchester United trainee.
The Athletic report the Tangerines ‘made an attempt’ to hire Ramsay, which was unsuccessful.
Manager Erik ten Hag reportedly ‘made clear’ he wants Ramsay to stay, regarding him as ‘an important member of his backroom team’.
Ramsay was not looking to leave and is happy in his role at Manchester United, where he is working under one of the best managers in world football. The fact Ten Hag is voicing his desire to keep him, is a very big compliment.
The coach is only 30, and there will be opportunities ahead of him at managerial level.
For now he is best served continuing to learn, and further build his reputation, so that if an opportunity comes his way, he will be even better prepared, and it could be a more enticing one than Blackpool.
