Manchester United’s players stood tall in a thrilling win to defeat Manchester City 2-1 at Old Trafford.
Marcus Rashford‘s winner came minutes after Bruno Fernandes struck an equaliser past Ederson, which was approved after VAR.
Rashford was offside and listened to Fernandes’ call not to touch the ball, and the Portuguese player stepped in to strike the ball into the net.
City players protested and continued to bemoan the decision after the match, with United recording a first home win over Pep Guardiola’s side since 2020.

Ten Hag hails Manchester United players
Erik ten Hag is receiving plenty of credit for his role in turning Manchester United around, and rightly so. But he was keen to turn attention to his players.
Picking out Bruno Fernandes as ‘really brilliant’, the manager also hailed a number of other starters for their roles in the win.
Ten Hag told the club website: “I’ve seen a lot of brilliant players on my side today. I mention Raphael Varane and Luke Shaw. I have to mention Fred.
“I definitely have to mention Bruno, he was really brilliant. And what do you think about Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Tyrell Malacia? I think all my players were brilliant.”
Ten Hag also hailed matchwinner Marcus Rashford, who scored his 16th goal of the season, commenting: “I’m really happy, of course, with his performance. He believes once again, he keeps going, he will always get his moment.”
Rashford is on a real scoring streak right now, netting in nine consecutive home games. England manager Gareth Southgate was at Old Trafford, and can only be left reflecting that he should have given him more than four minutes in the World Cup quarter-final.
United’s day was made even better by Liverpool losing 3-0 to Brighton. Jurgen Klopp’s side are in ninth, 10 points behind Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils
