Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag held talks with one of his first-team players about their lack of playing time under him at the Premier League club.

The Red Devils resumed their Premier League campaign on the weekend after the October break, with Manchester United hosting Brentford at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag went 1-0 down in the first half of injury time before rallying back in the second half and securing a 2-1 comeback win over Brentford on Saturday.

United have climbed to 12th place in the Premier League table, with the Red Devils managing only three league wins in eight matches so far.

Red Devils boss Ten Hag will now switch his attention to Thursday for United’s trip to Turkey for the Europa League clash against Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce.

Man Utd player on Fenerbahce clash

Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw at the start of their Europa League campaign against FC Twente at Old Trafford in September.

Erik ten Hag’s men then blew a 2-0 lead against Porto before fighting back and securing a 3-3 draw at the Estadio do Dragao in Portugal earlier this month.

Altay Bayindir arrived at Old Trafford in 2023 after he was signed by Turkish side Fenerbahce for a reported £4.3m transfer fee.

The 26-year-old Turkish shot-stopper arrived in the same transfer window as Andre Onana, who was signed from Inter Milan as David de Gea’s replacement.

Altay Bayindir has welcomed the upcoming Europa League encounter with Fenerbahce and believes that he will receive a warm reception from the fans.

“I was happy when I was paired with Fenerbache [in the Europa League],” he told TRT, as per ManchesterWorld.

“Only one match is played, either at home or away. It seems strange to me to call this an away game.

“Actually, it doesn’t seem like an away game to me. I will just be in a different dressing room.

“I left Fenerbahce in a good way. Our fans will welcome me in a good way.”

Bayindir’s ‘conversation’ with Ten Hag

Altay Bayindir has seen his playing time significantly limited at Old Trafford, with the Turkish shot-stopper playing second fiddle to Andre Onana.

The ex-Fenerbahce player only made one appearance for United last season, with Bayindir making his club debut in the fourth-round FA Cup win over Newport County.

Bayindir, who has featured once this season in the Carabao Cup win over Barnsley, has admitted that he has spoken with Erik ten Hag about his lack of playing time.

“I had a conversation with manager Erik ten Hag about not playing for Manchester United,” he said.

“I always respect the manager’s decision, but I will do everything to play. I’m just focusing on the pitch.”
