Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has given his verdict on striker Wout Weghorst‘s debut.
Weghorst led the line for Manchester United against Crystal Palace, and played 69 minutes before being substituted.
While the striker did not score, he played his part in Bruno Fernandes’ opener, distracting Palace’s defenders with a run across the box, which opened space for the midfielder.
Palace claimed an equaliser with an injury time free-kick from Michael Olise.

Wout Weghorst debut
Ten Hag spoke to Sky Sports after the game and was asked about Weghorst’s debut.
He responded, quoted via the club website: “I think he did quite well. I think of course he has to make adjustments to his game, to our game – he doesn’t know our way of play.
“It was a really short briefing to bring him in. Less training, no games, so [it was the] first time [he had] a couple of days here.
“I think he did quite well in all the elements of football.”
Weghorst had one attempt on goal which failed to hit the target, and managed 28 touches in total.
He also contributed defensively, making two clearances, winning one tackle.
He will have better games, but as Ten Hag says, it is down to the team and Weghorst to grow used to each other.
The striker has had less than a week of training after his loan move from Burnley to Manchester United was confirmed on Friday, after his previous spell at Besiktas was cut short.
He could be involved this weekend when United visit Arsenal. Whether it will be from the start, will depend on Anthony Martial’s fitness.
The Frenchman failed to make the bench against Palace, despite Ten Hag claiming his substitution against City was just a precaution.
