Manchester United fans are preparing for the worst after Lisandro Martinez suffered an injury against West Ham.
‘The Butcher’ was unable to continue after sustaining what appeared to be a knee injury in the second half.
Lisandro Martinez had attempted to play on for a short period but was in clear pain and went straight down the tunnel with medical staff.
MUTV’s Sammy McIlroy told the channel’s commentary that Martinez would only go off if there was something seriously wrong.

Erik ten Hag worried
Manager Erik ten Hag‘s immediate reaction was also one of worry, admitting it would be a big blow for the team if the Argentine is caused to miss more time through injury.
Martinez missed two spells in 2023 with foot injuries and has only just returned to the team.
Speaking in more detail to club media, Ten Hag explained how Martinez was feeling behind the scenes.
He said: “He’s very sad, very disappointed. We are all, we feel really with him. First of all, it’s a personal disaster when it’s really bad.”
Ten Hag added: “It doesn’t look good. So, there’s a big concern. But we have to wait, coming days, what is the diagnosis and then we can tell you more.”
Martinez update expected
Argentine reporter Gaston Edul wrote on X last night: “Lisandro Martínez will have the results of the studies tomorrow.”
The worst case scenario would see Martinez miss most of 2024. And while that does not bear thinking about, it may soon become a grim reality for Manchester United to have to deal with.
