Erik ten Hag called Dan Gore and Omari Forson up to train with the first team squad on Wednesday.

The big news to emerge from Carrington on Wednesday was the double boost provided by Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay‘s return to training.

Both players should be eligible to face Bournemouth this Saturday in United’s final Premier League away game of the season. Two home matches remain against Chelsea and Fulham.

Under the radar news saw Erik ten Hag call two youngsters into the first team training session.

The academy season is officially over with under-21 and under-18 games completed. Erik ten Hag wants his young players to hang around.

While Forson and Gore are not really being considered for first team spots right now, Ten Hag will be casting his eye over them with a view to the future.

He may even be assessing them with a view to Manchester United’s pre-season tour of America. The fixture against Wrexham is expected to feature a young team.

Dan Gore was a starter in the FA Youth Cup winning side along with Alejandro Garnacho. The central midfielder has had a productive campaign, making 26 appearances in total for the academy this season, including 21 at under-21 level.

It was a successful step up for the England under-18s international and don’t rule out another jump to making his first team debut next season if Ten Hag likes what he sees.

Omari Forson, 18, is an England under-19s international with two goals in three games at that level.

The winger has also had a strong academy season, netting nine goals in 25 appearances.

United need two wins from the final three games to seal Champions League qualification. If the first team can get those two victories in the next two games, then perhaps the final game at home to Fulham will see one or two youngsters involved.
