Ruben Amorim has hardly had a “soft landing” at Manchester United, never mind a new manager bounce as the results have somehow worsened since he arrived.

There are mitigating factors and nobody thought this would be a magic wand job, where Man Utd will be fixed by Ruben Amorim’s mere arrival.

Amorim has balanced expectations with patience perfectly so far and cut a figure determined to eventually succeed at Old Trafford.

Eric Cantona, however, has made a bold claim about something Amorim is already unhappy with at the club.

Eric Cantona’s bold Ruben Amorim claim

Eric Cantona has been fairly outspoken about the current state of affairs at Manchester United, from calling out Sir Jim Ratcliffe to hitching his wagon to FC United of Manchester.

His boldest claim yet has arrived in relation to Ruben Amorim’ about whom the legendary Frenchman has said that he’s unhappy.

Amorim, for his part, has been extremely honest so it is fair to assume that if he was unhappy, he’d be saying it publicly too so Cantona’s comments could be taken with a pinch of salt.

At the same time, the facet Cantona said Amorim is unhappy about is understandable too.

Speaking to Pete Boyle in Manchester, Cantona said: “We just have to wait [to see success]. He did great things at Lisbon and came in during the middle of the season so he didn’t choose a player, I know he’s unhappy about the players — so it would be more fair to judge after the summer.”

Ruben Amorim has every right to be unhappy with Man Utd players

While many of Cantona’s claims are outlandish at times, and nobody is mistaking him to have a direct line to Amorim either, this claim makes a lot of sense.

Any manager would be frustrated and unhappy with a group of players this highly-paid but so error-prone and fragile at times.

Roy Keane recently called out Man Utd squad for this fragility and the scale of rebuild in front of Amorim isn’t lost on him.

The Man Utd manager might not make his frustration clear publicly, but noises from inside the club, like Man Utd aiming to axe 10 players in the summer, are a sign that he has had enough.

One doesn’t need to be a Man Utd legend to know that Amorim is not happy with his squad but Cantona has nonetheless again echoed fans’ thoughts.
