Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez is on a trophy winning streak any player would be envious of, and it isn’t going unnoticed by his fellow professionals.
After leading Ajax to the Eredivisie title last season and then helping Argentina win the World Cup in 2022, Martinez has now secured his first trophy in English football.
The centre-back put his body on the line at Wembley with a typically spirited performance where he gave everything to defend United’s goal and keep a clean sheet.
Martinez was congratulated after the game by Angel di Maria and Paul Dybala, and more of his Argentine colleagues joined the praise.

Martinez praise for Martinez
Among those to reach out to further express admiration for the Manchester United centre-back was Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
He made reference to the defender’s ongoing success, writing: “Wins everywhere” in response to Lisandro Martinez’s Instagram post.

The Manchester United defender has made 35 appearances for the club this season already in all competitions.
These included four starts and one showing from the bench in the team’s Carabao Cup run.
He has made a successful adaptation to English football, dismissing ridiculous criticism of his height which was a topic of discussion before a ball was even kicked.
He was Ajax’s player of the year last season and it is easy to see why. There is strong competition from both Casemiro and Marcus Rashford at Manchester United this year, among others, but it would not be a surprise to see Lisandro Martinez win the player of the year award in his first season at Old Trafford, especially at the rate he is racking up trophies.
