Manchester United’s preparations ahead of facing Liverpool this weekend are well underway, and Ruben Amorim has turned to the academy for sessions on Thursday.
It is arguably the biggest game of the season when Manchester United face Liverpool, and this weekend is no different.

Michael Oliver will take charge of the game for a third successive year at Anfield, with United looking to win for the first time since 2016.
In advance of the game, Ruben Amorim has had several academy prospects in senior training.

The eight wonderkids in Manchester United first team training
Manchester United will have to name a strong line-up this weekend when Liverpool hosts the latest clash between the two biggest clubs in England.
However, after multiple United players were involved in international duty, there might be some big names not quite ready to play, such as Brazil’s captain Casemiro, who played 90 minutes earlier this week.
Now, with training ramping up on Thursday, Nathan Salt has tweeted, claiming that there were eight wonderkids involved in first-team training.
- Jacob Devaney
- Tyler Fletcher
- Shea Lacey
- Bendito Mantato
- Sam Mather
- Reece Munro
- Chido Obi
- Jim Thwaites
The reason for such a strong youth contingent in training, as Sky Sports have reported, is due to Amorim giving Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, Matheus Cunha, and Amad extra time off after their international duties.
Whether any of the eight will be included in the squad heading to Merseyside on Sunday remains to be seen; however, it is a clear signal of who Amorim is rating highest for a potential debut.
Shea Lacey should get Manchester United debut before November international break
Of all the young players Amorim called into the senior squad for training, it is probably Shea Lacey who is currently closest to breaking through. This season, Lacey has already impressed United’s senior players, and his stock only continues to rise.
Lacey has had a brilliant campaign for United at youth level, finally managing to string a handful of games together and earning a U20 England call-up.
During the international break, Lacey took part in first-team training with Thomas Tuchel seemingly keen to catch a glimpse of the wonderkid.
Lacey is first-team ready, with only his fitness denying him, but if he remains fit now, we can see a first-team debut on the horizon for the Liverpudlian. Perhaps even in the next few weeks.
