The scale of Netherlands’ dominance in their international match against Gibraltar was not accurately measured by the scoreline.
Ronald Koeman’s side had a staggering 51 shots at goal and held 86 per cent of possession. For all this one-sided play, they only managed to win 3-0.
Manchester United loan striker Wout Weghorst was one of the Dutch players to leave the pitch with regret.
Weghorst attempted eight shots at goal, failing to get on the scoresheet on a frustrating individual night.

Weghorst performance rated
The win and three points was the main objective for the Dutch after their 4-0 defeat to France. But this still felt like a bit of an underwhelming result.
SoccerNews reported reactions from Dutch supporters on Twitter, reporting, “As far as the fans are concerned, this was the Manchester United player’s last international match.”
Manager Ronald Koeman stuck up for Weghorst, criticising the players around him for being too predictable, commenting via Voetbal International: “Sometimes we gave a cross while Wout faced four defenders.”
Voetbal Primeur rated Weghorst a lowly 4.5/10, questioning how he struggled to hit the back of the net.
Their player ratings read: “It was not Weghorst’s match. Playing as a striker against Gibraltar and not scoring: is that actually possible?
“Erik ten Hag must also have seen that Weghorst even has trouble with the Gibraltar defence.”
FCUpdate‘s five conclusions feature noted: ” Wout Weghorst was at the point of the attack, but he also didn’t look sharp enough.”
Tubantia labelled Weghorst ‘disappointing’, while NOS noted that Weghorst could not score ‘even against Gibraltar’.
The Manchester United loanee has netted only twice since joining the Red Devils in the January transfer window.
A haul of goals against minnows Gibraltar would not have proved anything, but it would have lifted his confidence.
Instead he returns to Old Trafford with even more question marks hanging over him.
