Manchester United are now looking towards Crystal Palace sporting director Dougie Freedman to lead the Sir Jim Ratcliffe era.
United have now won four of the last five Premier League games and are hoping for an off-field boost very soon.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe is poised to purchase 25% of United in a £1.25billion pound deal, with an agreement set to be announced.
Ratcliffe will seize control of football operations and that means the potential appointment of a sporting director.
Paul Mitchell has been heavily linked but United are now thought to be considering another name in Dougie Freedman…
Manchester United keen on Dougie Freedman
The Daily Star now report that Crystal Palace sporting director Freedman is ‘in the frame’ to join United under Ratcliffe.
It’s stated that Freedman’s work at Palace has really caught the eye of both Ratcliffe and Sir David Brailsford, who is part of Ratcliffe’s team.
Brailsford is thought to be pushing for Freedman despite reports of interest in Mitchell.
Landing both seems very unlikely and Freedman may well emerge as a strong contender for a move to Old Trafford.

Freedman’s key signings at Crystal Palace analysed
Freedman was a Palace hero as a player and even managed the Eagles 90 times between January 2011 and October 2012.
The Scot continued his coaching career with Bolton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest but went down a different route in 2017.
Freedman became Palace sporting director and arguably deserves more praise than he receives.
A £20million package for Eberechi Eze now looks like a steal, as does the £8million paid to sign Michael Olise from Reading.
Just over £17million for Joachim Andersen has proven to be a great deal, whilst Marc Guehi – now thought to be a United target – was signed for just £20million.
Cheick Doucoure has been an outstanding addition in midfield for just £18million, with all five of those players now worth much, much more.
There have been some misses along the way; Alexander Sorloth didn’t work out and Max Meyer flopped at Selhurst Park.
Freedman’s work has largely been impressive though and United fans would no doubt love players like Eze, Guehi and Olise at Old Trafford.
Recruitment at Palace is very different to what is expected at United, but Brailsford and Ratcliffe may feel that Freedman can unearth some gems in a new United era.
