Di’Shon Bernard leaves Manchester United

Di’Shon Bernard spent the second half of last season on loan at Portsmouth.

Newspaper the Portsmouth News had reported earlier today that he was set to become a free agent.

Manchester United had an option in Bernard’s contract to activate an extension to 2024, but have chosen not to do so.

Bernard trained with the first team in early 2023 and featured on the winter tour of Spain, however, he was not in Erik ten Hag’s plans.

The versatile defender joined Manchester United from Chelsea and played one first team game in 2019. He has since been out on loan at Salford City, Hull City and Portsmouth.

He is the third player confirmed to leave Manchester United this summer, following  Ethan Galbraith and Phil Jones set to depart.
