Di’Shon Bernard future at Manchester United is decided – report

Di’Shon Bernard is set to be released when his Manchester United contract expires this summer.

According to the Portsmouth News, Di’Shon Bernard is set to become a free agent when his Manchester United deals runs out on July 30.

Bernard spent the second half of last season on loan at League One side Portsmouth. The club is willing to explore re-signing him, although Bernard’s plans remain unclear.

Manchester United have an option to extend Bernard’s deal to 2024, but are not expected to activate it.

Di’Shon Bernard set to leave

The time is right for Di’Shon Bernard to leave Manchester United. In fact, there is argument to say he should have left before now.

Bernard, 22, has now had three loan spells away from United in different divisions, playing at Salford City, Hull City, and Portsmouth.

An injury prevented him from featuring in pre-season a year ago. He then recovered to feature under Erik ten Hag in the winter friendly games, before securing a January loan to Portsmouth.

He played 11 games for Portsmouth, featuring at both right-back and centre-back.

Bernard played once for Manchester United’s first team, starting against Astana in 2019.

Manchester United releases

There are two confirmed Manchester United releases so far this summer, with Ethan Galbraith and Phil Jones set to depart.

The MEN report Axel Tuanzebe is set to be let go too, although like Bernard, this has yet to be confirmed by the club.
