Benjamin Sesko has revealed that Manchester United teammate Diogo Dalot has been getting involved in one of his all-important pre-match routines at the club.

The 22-year-old Manchester United striker has netted seven times and registered one assist in 23 matches across all competitions in the 2025-26 campaign.

Benjamin Sesko has been fighting for his place in the starting XI in recent weeks after being dropped to the bench under interim head coach Michael Carrick.

Michael Carrick has turned to Bryan Mbeumo as the lone forward in his tactical set-up, with Sesko reduced to four cameo appearances in his last five matches.

However, Sesko has had a meaningful impact from the bench for the Red Devils, including scoring United’s winner against Fulham and equaliser against West Ham.

Benjamin Sesko reveals a Man Utd pre-match ritual that Diogo Dalot has been getting involved in now

Despite being dropped to the bench, Benjamin Sesko has impressed when Manchester United legend Michael Carrick has turned to him in matches.

The Slovenian forward made an appearance on the Red Devils’ official podcast and opened up about his elite mentality, mainly his important pre-match preparations.

Speaking on Inside Carrington, Sesko revealed that United teammate Diogo Dalot has been feeling the “shock” of doing an ice bath with him in the mornings now.

“I don’t try to change so much on game day,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“I just try to put the focus where it has to be. Obviously, my meditation is really important because it just keeps me calm and in the place where I have to be.

“In the morning, with Diogo [Dalot], we do the ice bath, like up to the neck just to have a bit of a shock, get the body activated.

“Then the rest is just meetings, then lunch and then the game.”

What Benjamin Sesko also does as part of his pre-match Man Utd ritual and how rigid his schedule is

Sesko explained that he “doesn’t like to stay in one place for too long” and the former RB Leipzig striker talked up the importance of being “active” all the time.

“If I take a day off, I always try to wake up at seven o’clock,” he said.

“It’s always kind of my routine to always keep it up, especially when I have a day off, as I try to enjoy it as much as possible.”

Sesko continued: “So, I’ll get my coffee, and then I’m big on doing visualisations and meditations. I’ve been doing this for a couple of years – it just became my daily routine.

“Then I’ll probably go for some treatment and gym work, if possible. I like to enjoy my day off. I like to play basketball and try to find ways to play a little bit, and get active.

“I’m the kind of guy who doesn’t like to stay in one place for too long, so I’m always active.”

Sesko is in his debut season at Old Trafford after United signed the talented former RB Leipzig ace in a hefty transfer package worth £73.7m last August.
