Manchester United prospect Amad was at the heart of the team’s strong attacking play in the friendly match with Real Betis.
The star of Manchester United’s pre-season so far has been Amad Diallo, and that was even before last night’s friendly with Real Betis kicked off.
Amad scored one of Manchester United’s goals in the 3-2 win against Betis, underlining his star quality and growing importance to the team.
Erik ten Hag praised Amad after the game, lauding his pressing and work off the ball. Former star Denis Irwin agreed, while picking out another aspect of his game.

Denis Irwin on Amad
Former Manchester United left-back Denis Irwin talked up his admiration of Amad before and during the friendly with Real Betis.
Ex-Ireland international Irwin said pre-game, via MUTV: “I think Amad’s had a fantastic back half of the season, and on this tour he’s started really well,
“There’s loads of competition up there, [but] you’ve got a chance to stamp your authority.”
And he did exactly that, winning a penalty and scoring another goal, with United netting three times in the first half.
After watching his performance, Irwin told the channel: “I definitely think it’s his best position [on the right].
“What I like to see is the runs in behind. If I had any misconceptions last year, we weren’t doing that enough. Great defensive play too, brilliant.”
Amad is offering real excitement
Amad proved at the end of last season he has the ability to impact big Premier League matches, scoring one and assisting one in a win at Old Trafford against Newcastle.
The season ended at the wrong time for him, just as he was coming into form. But fortunately he has picked up where he left off.
Amad is in with a real chance of starting the first game of Manchester United’s season at home to Fulham.
Based on performances alone, he has earned it.
