Manchester United are waiting impatiently for their second summer signing.
After a turbulent campaign, there are high hopes that Manchester United will improve in 2025/26. New signings will help Ruben Amorim assemble a team capable of winning matches each week, and he has started by addressing the attacking department.
While United have yet to sell any players, the Red Devils have announced their first signing. Matheus Cunha joins from Wolves after scoring 17 goals in the Premier League last season.
The Brazilian will be a welcome addition to a side that scored just 44 league goals last term, with Rasmus Hojlund’s future now in doubt.
United have since had a second bid rejected for Bryan Mbeumo. The Brentford winger scored 20 Premier League goals last season, and Ineos remain optimistic they can strike a deal with Brentford.
It has been a month since Mbeumo reportedly decided to join United over other interested clubs, including Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle. The Cameroon international is willing to snub clubs competing in the Champions League to move to Old Trafford.

David May excited by the prospect of Bryan Mbeumo transfer
It shouldn’t be a surprise that there has been plenty of interest in Bryan Mbeumo this summer.
Interest from other clubs was quenched in the past month by the player’s desire to join United, but it’s been slow progress to get the deal over the line.
Mbeumo is a player who would bring pace and goals to United’s attack, which was needed last season when Amorim’s side struggled in front of goal each week.
Former United defender David May told The Devils’ Advocate podcast that Mbeumo would be a “brilliant” signing that would take some pressure off Hojlund.
“[Bryan] Mbeumo would be a brilliant addition,” May said. “Rasmus [Hojlund] struggled last year at times playing centre-forward on his own, it took its toll on him.
“He does need help and Mbeumo is a top player. The fact that he doesn’t want to go to any other club is a bonus for Manchester United because you have players that want to play for this club. It is one of the biggest clubs in the world and to say you’ve played for it is something special.”
Hojlund managed to score just 10 goals in 52 appearances last season, which was six fewer goals than he scored during his debut campaign.
May trusts Ruben Amorim to make the right decision
As a player who came through United’s academy and won the treble in 1999, May knows what it means to represent the United shirt.
May sent a message to players who are having second thoughts about their futures at Old Trafford.
He also trusts that Amorim will make the right decision when it comes to Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho, all of whom are being linked with moves away from the club.
May added: “I want all the good players to stay at Manchester United but it comes down to whether they themselves want to play here. If you want to go and play somewhere else, you know where the door is. The manager will make the decision on Garnacho, on Rashford, on Sancho. If you don’t want to play for this club, you shouldn’t be at the club. These fans will back you 100%, but as soon as you start drifting, well, I wish you well.”
