Cristiano Ronaldo famously said, ‘I don’t follow records, records follow me’. After scoring his 900th career goal, he backed that up once again.
900 goals is an unthinkable career tally when you break it down, and totally unprecedented in modern football.
Cristiano Ronaldo is still not satisfied, and even in advance of his 900th, he declared he is targeting a staggering total of 1,000 goals.
Last night he hit the 900 milestone, an impressive tally worth celebrating in it’s own right.

Cristiano Ronaldo celebrates 900
Cristiano Ronaldo is still counting – even though Bruno Fernandes says everybody else has lost count of his goal tally.
Ronaldo’s goal gave Portugal a 2-1 win over Croatia, and he made his first message on Instagram a direct pointer to his team’s victory, “We walked into the Nations League on the right foot! We keep going.”
The former Manchester United star then made reference to his individual tally, writing: “I dreamed of this, and I have more dreams. Thank you all!”
Ronaldo received responses from two of his former Manchester United teammates on social media.
Former United goalkeeper David de Gea wrote: “Just 900?”
Jadon Sancho responded with a ‘goat emoji’, while there were also messages from Real Madrid legend Raul, and current star Vinicius Jr.

Ronaldo knew goal number 900 was coming
Cristiano Ronaldo was emotional after scoring his 900th goal, yet speaking after the game, he said he was confident the milestone was coming.
Quoted via A Bola, he said: “It means a lot. It was a number I had wanted to reach for a long time. I knew I would reach this number, because as I continue to play, it would happen naturally.
“Only I know, and the people around me, how hard it is to work every day, to be physically and psychologically fit, to score the 900th goal. It’s a unique milestone in my career.”
