Manchester United return to Premier League action this weekend to face Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

It was just over a fortnight ago that Manchester United faced Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

This fixture ended in a 1-1 draw, after Michael Olise’s late equaliser cancelled out Bruno Fernandes‘ first half goal.

Wilfried Zaha nearly won the game for Palace in injury-time, stopped in his tracks by Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s late tackle.

Wilfried Zaha injury

Wilfried Zaha is not expected to play a part for Crystal Palace against Manchester United this weekend.

Zaha sustained a hamstring injury in Palace’s recent goalless draw with Newcastle and was unable to complete the match.

The Evening Standard reported this week that Zaha’s initial recovery time was set at six weeks. While he aims to return before this, it won’t be against Manchester United.

Premier Injuries note that Zaha’s current status is ‘Ruled Out’.

The winger was signed by Manchester United in 2013 but failed to establish himself at Old Trafford and returned to Palace.

His best performance against United came at Old Trafford in 2020 when he scored twice in a 3-1 away win for the Eagles.

In the recent match he was a tricky opponent, hauled down by Casemiro in the second half, a booking which earned the Brazilian a suspension for the Arsenal game.

Palace are always a difficult team to play against. The last four games between the teams have a 2-2 aggregate scoreline, a 0-0 and 1-1 draw and 1-0 wins for both sides.

Zaha’s absence makes the game slightly easier for United, but by the same token, Christian Eriksen will miss out for the hosts.
