Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo says he has ‘full focus’ on helping the team to beat Real Sociedad tonight.
United don’t just need a win, the team must be victorious by two goals or more, to secure top spot in the group.
Ronaldo has faced Sociedad several times before, winning nine out of 10 matches against them. The one defeat came with United earlier in the Europa League group stages.
He has scored 15 goals in 10 games against Sociedad, also providing four assists. This is a great record from his time at Real Madrid, which will inspire Ronaldo upon his return to facing the club tonight, after falling flat against them at Old Trafford in September.
Ronaldo sends message
Ronaldo sent a message on his Instagram story reel referring to his return to Spain, expressing a ‘full focus’ on winning against Real Sociedad and securing top spot in the group.
With other first team attackers absent from the travelling squad, United will really need Ronaldo to step up and deliver.
Ronaldo may be aware that his last return to Spain with Manchester United did not yield any goals, against Atletico Madrid earlier this year.
He will be determined to make an impact in the country he once dominated so easily with Real Madrid.
United’s qualification for the knockout stages is already secure, with four wins since the home loss to Sociedad. But it would ease fixture congestion in 2023 if the team can get the job done tonight.
