Alejandro Garnacho was voted as Manchester United’s man of the match in the win over Sheriff Tiraspol.

The youngster made his first competitive start for the club in the 3-0 win, playing 79 minutes at Old Trafford.

The approval he really wanted was from teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, his idol, and the superstar made a point of walking off the pitch with Garnacho at full-time.

Now Ronaldo has reached out on social media to congratulate the wonderkid on his performance.

Garnacho had posted on social media to comment that he did not know if he was dreaming, after such a successful night.

Cristiano Ronaldo responded on social media, with a simply fist-bump emoji, showing his respect for the teenager.

Ronaldo very rarely comments on his teammates’ Instagram pages, so this really does underline the admiration he has for his young colleague.

Tyrell Malacia and Facundo Pellistri also both reached out, along with numerous members of United’s under-21 side.

Garnacho was given an ovation as he was substituted in the 79th minute, after a skilful performance.

He missed the opportunity to cap it with a goal, but his display had everything else, as he confirmed he had earned his first team spot and deserved to be there.

With the full approval of his teammates, we should be seeing a lot more of Garnacho across the season ahead.
