Manchester United can cross one name off the list of centre-back transfer options.
Signing a new centre-back will be a top priority for Manchester United next year after the club declined to spend at the position last season.
Jonny Evans was signed as a free agent temporary stop-gap, and while Harry Maguire’s return to form means he could now stay, Victor Lindelof and Raphael Varane are looking more vulnerable as they enter their 30s.
But there is bad news for one possible Manchester United replacement options.

Perr Schuurs torn ACL
Manchester United can take Perr Schuurs off the list of potential signings for 2024 after he suffered a serious injury.
90Min reported in August that Dutch defender Perr Schuurs is ‘liked behind the scenes’ at Old Trafford, after playing 92 games under Erik ten Hag at Ajax.
Calciomercato had reported Serie A side Torino were looking for around £35 million for the 23-year-old defender.
But that is no longer an option, after Schurrs suffered a torn ACL at the weekend against Inter Milan, Fabrizio Romano reports.
The Dutchman had been in great form this season for Torino, and was looking likely to earn a big move, whether to United or elsewhere.
He has been branded a ‘complete’ defender by boss Ivan Juric.
But a future move is all on hold for now, and Manchester United will focus elsewhere.
Manchester United centre-back options
Manchester United have a few names in the mix, from Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo, to Sporting’s Goncalo Inacio, to Benfica’s Antonio Silva, plus Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba, reports Fabrizio Romano.
There will be other names who earn their way into consideration, like Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, Goal report.
