Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has explained how Erik ten Hag has helped to revive the club’s fortunes.

United lost the first two matches of the season, before bouncing back to win the last four consecutive Premier League games.

Eriksen has played in all of them, forging a partnership with Scott McTominay in the heart of the midfield.

McTominay has become one of the team’s most improved players, completing 100 per cent of his passes in the win over Arsenal.

Erik ten Hag’s instructions have played key role

Eriksen credits manager Erik ten Hag with helping the duo get back in form, by giving them clear instructions in terms of positioning, and what he expects from them when they get the ball.

The Dane told the club’s official website: “Scott has done very well and I think you can see that from the games.

“I think in the first few ones we were looking for each other a bit and seeing where we are, but now I think we are starting to get a good connection and a good feeling of where you should be, and also because of the instructions of the manager as he has the positions he would like us to be in.

“So first of all we need to focus on our partnership and, at the same time, we need to focus on where the manager wants us to be.”

Eriksen is also aware that the side will rotate and he is encouraged by Casemiro’s arrival from Real Madrid.

He said: “Everyone has different qualities and it’s up to the manager who he’s going to put down to play in which games and see what qualities will work. Take Casemiro coming in and showing how strong he is already. Being a winner.”

Eriksen himself has been one of the best signings of the season, joining on a free transfer, and making a real difference to the way United play, praised by Paul Scholes after the win over Arsenal last weekend.

Ten Hag has only been at United for a matter of months, and his impact is being felt already. Eriksen’s comments show that the players are really buying into his methods.
