Rasmus Hojlund has rediscovered his love for the game immediately after leaving Manchester United, and his latest exploits have left Chris Sutton in a daze.

What started with a hopeful loan move for a player pushed out of the club has quickly turned into a classic case of “Post Man Utd glow-up” for Rasmus Hojlund.

Hojlund scored on his Napoli debut and has reached new heights with pretty much every game since, even bringing his scoring touch to the international stage.

His latest exploits left Chris Sutton at a loss for words, as he deemed it ‘unbelievable’.

Rasmus Hojlund’s explosive form

Hojlund has scored six goals in his last four games and eight this season, which is already double the number of goals he scored in the league last season for Man Utd.

The latest one came in the 3-1 win against Greece, where the Danish media spoke about the “fire back in his eyes” after a “washed-up” spell in Manchester.

Chris Sutton, speaking on BBC’s Football Phone In podcast, was amazed at the quick turnaround in fortunes for the Danish striker.

He said: “That game over in Copenhagen, Rasmus Hojlund scored again in the 21st minute. That’s unbelievable, how many goals has he scored now since leaving the Reds? Yeah, I wonder how Manchester United fans feel about that.”

Hojlund scoring has become a seemingly weekly affair, which just hammers home how important the mentality part is in football to succeed at Man Utd.

Man Utd fans will be happy for Hojlund

To answer Sutton’s question about how Man Utd fans feel about Hojlund’s resurgence, you would be hard-pressed to find many who hate it.

For all his faults on the pitch, Hojlund was a model professional who never lacked in effort and desire to contribute.

It was clear that all the confidence had deserted him and trapped him in a vicious cycle where nothing he was doing was coming off.

As soon as his surroundings changed, it was as if a dark cloud hanging over his head was whisked away, and the sun shone again on him.

United will be £38m richer next season due to Hojlund’s form, and the player has rediscovered his love for football again. There’s no point pondering over “What if?” scenarios.

If it were to happen at Old Trafford, it would have happened already.
