Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs could make a return to management having been discussed for a Championship job.
A number of former Manchester United players are currently in management in England’s top four leagues.
Michael Carrick is in charge at Middlesbrough whilst former United teammate Tom Cleverley is cutting his teeth in charge of Watford.
Wayne Rooney is defying his critics at Plymouth Argyle whilst Darren Ferguson and Richie Wellens are at Peterborough United and Leyton Orient respectively.
Steve Bruce is back in the game with Blackpool but the likes of Paul Ince, Jaap Stam, Mark Hughes and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are waiting for new opportunities.
Ryan Giggs targeted for Championship job
One man who could be back in the dugout soon is Ryan Giggs.
Arguably United’s greatest ever winger, Giggs had a brief spell as United’s interim boss in 2014 before joining Louis van Gaal’s coaching staff.
Giggs then took charge of Wales between 2018 and 2020, winning 12 of his 25 games in charge.
The 50-year-old stepped aside for off-field reasons but has now been placed under consideration for a job in the Championship.
TalkSPORT claim that Cardiff City have discussed moving for Giggs as their new manager.
Giggs has never been a manager at club level outside of his handful of games in charge of United after David Moyes’ exit.
Cardiff appear to be interested though and may hand Giggs a return to management.
The Bluebirds recently sacked boss Erol Bulut and are looking for a new boss to kickstart their season.
Slaven Bilic is one target but Giggs is seemingly a serious contender to take charge in the Welsh capital with Cardiff sitting bottom of the Championship table.

Cardiff have lost six of their first nine games this season, winning just once whilst scoring four goals and conceding 18.
Giggs may be viewed as a manager who can move the club out of the relegation zone and up the table.
If Giggs does take the job, he will be inheriting a former United talent in Will Fish.
Cardiff struck a deal worth up to £3million for Fish late in August as the centre back departed Old Trafford.
Fish has only made three appearances for Cardiff so far, starting twice and making one substitute appearance.
Cardiff will want that investment to really pay off and Giggs may be charged with the task of developing Fish into a star in South Wales.
