Champions League winner loves being Antony’s teammate, says Man United star has ‘brutal talent’

Players hitting top form immediately after leaving Manchester United is becoming a frustrating theme.

It feels like Manchester United have been ‘rebuilding’ for years now, and yet under Ruben Amorim, it seems a major clearout is needed more than ever.

However, Amorim insists United cannot rebuild at the moment due to the financial struggles at the club. The Profit and Sustainability Rules stopped the Red Devils from investing over the January window, and they could seriously impact the summer budget too.

To make United’s rebuild even more frustrating, every player sold seems to thrive the minute they leave Old Trafford. Scott McTominay has become a Napoli ‘idol’ since his summer move to Italy, while Anthony Martial is thriving in Greece.

Even as recently as this January window, Marcus Rashford has started brightly at Aston Villa and fellow loan star Antony has been on a scoring spree at Real Betis.

Champions League winner piles praise on Antony

Antony struggled to justify his £81m fee at United and ended up becoming a misfit at Old Trafford.

A loan move in January made sense, and Antony has made a blistering start at Betis, with three goals and two assists in his first six appearances.

Antony scored a stunning volley which summed up his growth in confidence since leaving United, and it seems he is loving life in Spain.

At Betis, Antony plays alongside five-time Champions League winner Isco, and the Spaniard was full of praise for his new teammate.

As quoted by Estadio Deportivo, Isco said: “Yes, the truth is that it is very easy to play with him, he has a brutal talent, he always makes good decisions, and well, that is what we have to do, right?

“We try to put the talent we have at the service of the team, and hopefully between now and the end of the season we will take that step forward that is needed to get into Europe.”

Isco hoping Antony’s red card is overturned

While Antony has started like a house on fire at Betis, his momentum came grinding to a halt this weekend.

Antony received a red card against Getafe in his latest display, meaning he is set to miss the upcoming match against Real Madrid.

However, Antony’s teammate Isco is hopeful that it can be overturned: “Let’s see if Anthony’s sending off can be reviewed, because they say that I don’t know if there was contact or not, we’ll see.”

While Antony’s form is another frustrating example of players thriving after leaving United, there are some positives.

United will have a big decision to make in the summer. Antony’s value is growing as a result of his strong form, so Ineos will have to choose whether he returns to Manchester or leaves permanently.

Antony has spoke about joining Betis permanently, but that will all be decided in the summer window.
