Manchester United midfielder Casemiro admitted that he is in awe at two legendary former footballers after claiming that they both “definitely marked an era.”
Casemiro was widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in the world during his time at Real Madrid, with the Brazilian enjoying incredible success at Los Blancos.
The 32-year-old forged effective partnerships with Luka Modric and Toni Kroos at Madrid and was a key defensive midfield figure for the La Liga side.
Casemiro left the Spanish side in 2022 and completed a blockbuster move to Old Trafford, with Manchester United agreeing a deal worth up to £70m at the time.
The Brazilian midfielder was widely praised for his impact in his debut season at United after Casemiro provided midfield stability for manager Erik ten Hag.
However, the ex-Madrid star’s influence has waned this season and Casemiro was out of action for almost three months due to a hamstring injury he suffered.

Speaking to TeamViewer Diaries, Casemiro opened up about his admiration for Manchester United legend Paul Scholes and France legend Zinedine Zidane.
Paul Scholes spent his entire playing career at Old Trafford under former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and enjoyed incredible success at the club.
The 49-year-old United legend is regarded as one of the best midfielders of all time, with Roy Keane claiming that he was one of three players who were better than him.
Zinedine Zidane, much like Scholes, had a legendary playing career and is considered one of the best players of all time.
The 51-year-old Frenchman’s success carried over to his time in the managerial dugout, with Zidane experiencing incredible achievements at Madrid.
Zidane, who managed Casemiro at the Spanish club, lifted three consecutive Champions League titles during his first reign at Los Blancos.
“Those two definitely marked an era, specifically Paul Scholes, who played here,” Casemiro said, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“I think he’s one of the best footballers to look up to. And Zidane due to his talent, especially.”
Casemiro talks Cristiano Ronaldo
Casemiro played alongside United and Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo both in Spain and in England.
The Brazil captain hailed the impact of Ronaldo at Madrid and claimed the Al Nassr superstar was one of the “top three” players in the world in his era.
“He [Ronaldo] gave me loads of titles and goals,” Casemiro said.
“So, it’s a pleasure to talk about Cris.
“In my generation, he was top three in the world. Without a doubt, he’s one of football’s all-time best.”
