Lisandro Martinez’s long-awaited return to the Manchester United training ground has gone down very well with his Red Devils team-mate Casemiro.
Oh how we’ve longed for moments like this.
Where two of the finest footballers on planet earth are engaging in the sort of bromance that warms the heart at Manchester United, fellow South Americans Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro as in-tune off the pitch as they are on it.

Martinez, two-and-a-half months after an outstanding debut season at Manchester United was brought to a premature conclusion during that 2-2 draw with Sevilla, finally returned to Carrington on Thursday.
Much to the delight of a player who’s role as Erik ten Hag’s defensive midfield screen is about to get a whole lot easier. The ‘Butcher of Amsterdam’ sharpening his knives again.
Lisandro Martinez back for Manchester United
Martinez and Casemiro, big-money signings from Ajax and Real Madrid, both made a huge impact for a Manchester United side who had comfortably the best defensive record on home soil anywhere in the Premier League last term, conceding just 10 goals in 19 Old Trafford fixtures.
Martinez is not only arguably United’s best defensive signing since Nemanja Vidic, he is also a crucial cog in Ten Hag’s build up with his piercing, line-breaking passes.
His return, in time for pre-season, will be a major boost for Ten Hag; the United boss looking to build on last term’s third-place finish.
“You asked me about the influence of Casemiro and Rapha Varane. They know how to win trophies,” Ten Hag told the Manchester Evening News; the Dutchman ending United’s six-year silverware drought against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final.
“Look at all the Champions League wins they had.
“But I think Martinez – I had him at Ajax, (and won trophies with him)… You need that personality and that typical character in your squad to win in the end. Martinez is definitely one of them.”
United also hope that Martinez will be joined in their pre-season camp by at least one big-name signing. Talks with Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana are advancing. There remains a confidence, meanwhile, that Chelsea will finally sell Mason Mount after three rejected bids.
