Casemiro was on the scoresheet yet again as Manchester United saw off fellow European hopefuls Brentford.

On Monday night, Manchester United beat Brentford 2-1 to move three points adrift of Liverpool and Aston Villa.

Casemiro opened the scoring after 11 minutes, and Benjamin Sesko doubled United’s advantage before the break.

Although it was a blow to concede late on, United’s win means they sit third in the Premier League with four games remaining.

Casemiro could beat Dwight Yorke’s record at Man Utd

Dwight Yorke played for United between 1998 and 2002.

After joining from Aston Villa in 1998, for a then-club record fee of £12.6 million, Dwight went on to become part of the Treble-winning squad a year later.

Yorke scored 65 goals in 152 appearances across all competitions, but he previously held the record for scoring the most headers for United in one Premier League season.

That was until Casemiro matched the record with his headed goal against Brentford. It was his eighth of the season, equalling Yorke’s tally in 1999/00.

Edinson Cavani is ranked third with six headed goals in the 2020/21 campaign, while five players are tied on five: Andy Cole, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, and Javier Hernandez.

Casemiro will be hoping to score a goal or two against Liverpool on Sunday in United’s next home match.

Casemiro has an eye for goal at Old Trafford

Casemiro is leading another chart for goals this season.

The 34-year-old defensive midfielder has scored more Premier League goals at Old Trafford this season (7) than any other player.

That will make it harder for United fans to say goodbye to Casemiro at the end of the season.

Michael Carrick stressed there would be no U-turn on Casemiro’s contract, despite calls from the Stretford End.
